Other than remembering views, is there an easy way to save and recall layer states?? I have a drawing with a large number of layers, and I want to quickly go back and forth between different states. Is saved views the answer, or is there something better? thanks!

You can toggle through each Layer buy holding the command key and the up or down arrows,
Or you could go into the layers setup and move the layers you want to switch between
are above or below each other

Views are easy to set up, so it is best to go with that method. Just name the View for a specific part of your drawing (with set layer/class visibilities, zoom area, and so on), and you can always go back to it. To make it even more accessible, there is a pulldown for Views on the top bar of the screen.

I am not sure if you are using the Navigation Palette (Windows>Palettes) but from this you can select the Saved Views tab and then quickly jump your different layer states..

yes, that's what i mean -- some off, some on, some grey -- but in different combinations without having to set each layer ever time.
