Vincent Cuclair replied to Thor Walter Andersen's discussion 'Exporting DWG from viewports'
The problem is not layers/classes the problem is firstly that AutoCAD has a system where you can have only one model file (design layer) and unlimited layouts (sheet layers) in one file, where as we can have unlimited of both in VW, so when…

Vincent Cuclair replied to William Page's discussion 'Alignment of sheets'
Well I haven't tried this specifically but you can try copying VP1 and pasting it in place on Sheet 2 ....it should be in the same place as on Sheet 1? If you already have a VP2 you can transfer it's settings to the new VP2 with the…

Sam I hope this can help you too! After having tried an all 3D work flow in ArchiCAD and experiencing several problems touching upon issue concerning 2D vs 3D in this post, I thought hit me that might make separate 2D and 3D classes unecessary in…

Vincent Cuclair replied to John Keating's discussion 'Exporting Walls to Autocad and saving PDFs.'
To overcome the font problem you can check the box 'rasterize text' in the Export PDF command, this makes all text a bitmap and there will be no font issues on the receiving end. If you have simple plans/sections/elevations the best way…

How about creating a new wall type that starts and ends at the partial fill and insert the window in this, haven't tried it so I don't know how the connection between the 2 wall types will look but it's worth a try.......

Depends on what level is required, 2D is no problem when going via dwg. 3D is more complicated (not possible)...... Your choices: 1: Through IFC and import in ArchiCAD (only 3D) and (only walls are recognized as native walls in ArchiCAD, it is…

There is a way to convert viewports into line drawings too......ie. copy the viewport>convert to group>ungroup (I think) then copy and paste from Sheet Layer to Design Layer> Scale up to correct scale and save as Symbol (which is editable).

In Top/Plan view VW is 2D, in the otherviews it is 3D. If the receiver wants 3D dwgs trial and error with the different settings will lead to the best result but you must be in anything but the Top/Plan view. If they want a 'dead' 2D dwg I…

I know the feeling Andy :) I'm self educated over the years in AutoCad Point, Bentley Architecture, ADT, VW and ArchiCAD (in that order), the trick is to understand how the program designer(s) think, once you find this red line things get…
