Hi John, to to this, I select the geometry to export, go to the Modify menu, then choose Convert -> Convert Copy to Lines option. That generates a planar geometry that you can foolproof export to DWG. Hope that works ok

I had a problem with text getting garbled when exporting to PDF as well. It was having problems with a Helvetica Open font type, this just got resolved with the resent MAC Snow Leopard OS update. Exporting makes for a smaller PDF file from…

John, yes, most "program problems" are really "user workflow issues". I'm having a few of those today learning VW! There are numerous ways to accomplish the same goal in AutoCAD. It's common for long-time AC users to…

Thanks for the reply, B. Clint! The AutoCAD version is 2006. Each time they open my exported VW drawings, the image file doesn't open automatically. I believe I'm doing everything correctly at my end so basically what I'm trying to…

John, I have used AutoCAD. As usual, the answer is "it depends." I've not tried to do what you are trying to yet, but AutoCAD can import images. Other DWG apps such as Bricscad can also. The "depends" would be what version…

Including images when exporting fro VW10 to autocad!

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding including image files in drawings being exported from VW to autocad. I'm exporting a drawing which includes signage images. When exporting, I have checked the "export images and image files" in the export dialogue box and the image file is included in the new created folder. What does the autocad user have to in order that the image opens at their end? Do they have to carry out a particular operation as it is not opening at present. Or, is the…See More

John, To Sean's information I would like to add that if you have your drawing strictly organized by class, you could assign colors and line weights to those classes and when you export, choose export "classes as layers'. If the…

Hi John, Plot style tables are still a part of AutoCAD, but using color exclusively for determining line weight is out dated. In my experience, many architects who learned autocad in the eighties and nineties do not realize that since AutoCAD 2000,…

Plotting Options in Autocad for exported VW drawings.

Hi all,I recently exported a set of drawings as dwgs for autocad. I generally don't select the option "Map line weights to Colours" but this architect is asking for a plot styles file as the line weights are incorrect when they print my drawings. I didn't think that plot styles are necessary so I'm wondering if the autocad user needs to adjust his settings and if so, what are those settings? It may be a case of the a-cad user still living with a legacy from the old pen plotter days and hasn't…See More
