Does anyone know how to call the filename into a text block?I'd really find that useful to have on a lot of our drawings because, especially between issues, we sometimes PDF or print drawings and…Continue

Do you have an example of the pattern. I can't quite visualise the fibonacci golden squares as a pattern. I am sure there is a way of making them tesselate!

I use an applescript to rearrange my setup. Unfortunately, some palets don't listen to the script anymore since VW2010. Here's the script: tell current application set theApplication to "VectorWorks 2010 US" end tell -- Get the…

Try the Date Stamp then. Apply the stamp each time you change the file name and it will automatically update. I hope this is nearer to what you are after. It can be found in Dims/Notes

Erum.. no. I want the text to be linked to the filename, so when the filename changes (we update the file name much more often than the revision) the text does.

There is a Text Tool (shortcut 1)) in the Basic tools palette. Is this what you are after? just pick the tool and click on the drawing and start typing. The text block can be moved to any location on the drawing.

File Corruption

I have been having a major problem with one of my project files where it saves fine then when you want to open the file VW crashes. The problem is exacerbated by the was in which VW2010 allows you to more efficiently create elevations in the same file as the Plans, whereas before we had separate plans and elevations files. So now I not only have to re-draw the elevations, but the plans too.I have been incrementally saving so have multiple versions, plus using a Time Capsule that saves all the…See More

I thought you meant mid-atlantic as in people from the US and Europe could get in on the action.... judging by the time obviously not!

Well thanks guys; it's nice to know I'm not alone and 'a bit weird' for finding this irritating. I wonder if there could be a 'everything to the edges' pallet command. That would also work. It doesn't help that…

Yes, you will need to make changes twice. Kind of a pain but I don't think that there is any way around it.

Thanks Bill. I'll try that when I have a spare moment :) I suppose when you amend a workspace you need to remember to do both copies.
