Caveat: ensure the width of both profiles & the extrusion depth is the same. Attached is a file demonstrating the above. It looked better when I edited the symbol & put fillets on some of the sharper edges.

I would suggest a simpler process: 1) extruding each profile as you've drawn above, one on the x-axis & one on the y-axis; 2) ensuring the blocks are the same size looking from the z-direction [so the bases of the profiles coinside]; 3)…

Glenn I have been a bit busy but here is a quick description. 1. Create the selected profile in a front elevation view. 2. Extrude it half the total length you need. (in elevation) 3. Go to the left or right elevation and create the…

I've tried to convert to Nurbs, but the result is 'invalid object' (see attached screen capture). I've tried converting to lines, 3d polys, etc., but still get the same result when trying to convert to Nurbs. Hopefully, I'll…

I'm not sure what Nick did, but drawn the lines and convert to NURBS curves, then loft?

Glenn Is this the sort of thing you are after? I have no idea what measurements you are working to but the basic concept might work or you Nick

Thanks for the suggestion, Kevin. Good idea to simplify. I have attached the latest sketch, but still do not seem to be able to make it work. The line types are 3D Polys, but I have also tried Lines, and Polylines. I select the Loft from one rail…

I want to model a single panel from the image below, and have drawn the lines in the sketch below that are necessary to derive the shape, but can't figure out how to make it work.  I have tried the various 3d power pack items; loft, nurbs, etc., but can't seem to figure it out.  Can anyone help? Thanks!See More

Glenn,
I looked at your website and blog. Good content. What areas do you specialize in, or is that too restricting? As for myself, people don't say that I think outside the box, but rather that I haven't even found the box. Lately I've been doing a lot of pattern-making using some rather cool toys that I have to become precast concrete ornamentation.
