Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before: I have a worksheet that displays hardscapes and their areas.  For some reason on one of my files the worksheet is displaying…Continue

I am trying to create a worksheet for pricing purposes that will calculate Wall construction costs using length.  How do I get the worksheet to list wall length?  I have tried the following among…Continue

Hardscape Hatches out of scale

Hi,I noticed recently that my hardscape hatches seem to be out of scale when viewing them in a viewport.  For some reason some of the hardscape surface hatches stay at the correct scale, and some get…Continue

"Thanks, Michael, but the design layer scale doesn't seem to make a difference in the cut/fill calculation.  The scale is not on the default 1:1, but even when I change to that it doesn't affect the calculation."

"Any chance that the scale was accidentally left in the default setting of 1:1?"

"Thanks, Mitch.  I understand I am mixing units, as I did not list the imperial calculations for cut/fill.  I did however look at it in all units to see what it said, and it was wrong all around.  0.1 cu feet is an extremely small…"

Michael G. Terry replied to Drew Otway's discussion 'Cut/Fill Calculation'
"Once you resolve this calculation problem, if this cut/fill is actually executed in the field, note that excavated soils tend to increase in volume as they are broken up -- sand the least, rock the most, and clay in-between.  This becomes an…"

Mitch Brooks replied to Drew Otway's discussion 'Cut/Fill Calculation'
"Drew, First you are mixing units. You are talking about raising one (?) central point by 2' over a 50' x50' (2500 sf) area, no?  Perhaps a C&F volume of .0029 cu m is about right. 0029 cu m is the same as 0.1 cu ft which…"

Cut/Fill Calculation

I am trying to work out the cut/fill calculations for a site and having a problem with the result.  I have created my site model successfully using existing stake objects, and have proposed site modifier stake objects.  Everything seems to be working right because I can switch the site model from proposed to existing, and it shows exactly the change I need it to (it also shows correct in 3d).  The area is approximately 50' x 50' and I have raised a central elevation point by more than 2' above…See More

Drew Otway replied to Drew Otway's discussion 'Worksheet multiplying Hardscape areas by 3'
"Wow...now this sounds like a possible, yet crazy solution haha.  Crazy because I think it would be sort of silly that the worksheet counts items in a viewport, since a viewport is supposed to be only a window into your drawing, not a copy of…"

"Thanks for the reply Patrick - very useful for those following this - and as you say, probably the cause of Drew's problems."

Patrick Stanford replied to Drew Otway's discussion 'Worksheet multiplying Hardscape areas by 3'
"The most likely cause is viewports.   By default, the worksheet counts the objects in the design a layers and the image of the objects in a viewport. If you have two viewports in addition to your design layer objects, you will get 3X the…"
