Don Marquardt commented on Joshua Lee's blog post 'Vectorworks Newbie issue 2'

Don Marquardt replied to Lee Calisti's discussion 'VW on a PC laptop'
Lee, depending on the scale of work you do and the likely size of the files, a regular laptop might work ok. I used an Entertainment HP Pavilion DV600 for a couple of years just fine (suburban residential homes, remodeling,  additions and urban…

Don Marquardt replied to Vincent Oles's discussion 'Sections, Section Viewports and Details'
Isolate the portions of the drawing for the details, as you have mentioned, then PDF or JPEG them. Make a symbol from them or just inport them into a new drawing when needed. They will not be editable, since the original is just a viewport, although…

Don Marquardt replied to Paul Craig's discussion 'Changing materials'
On individual projects I use separate layers for the walls, ie, an Exterior wall-Stone and Exterior Wall-Brick. Build the model in one, copy/paste in place to the other. This lets me spin the whole model for each version. Perhaps this is too…

Don Marquardt replied to John Keating's discussion 'Help creating gabled window over two floors!'
Couple of appoaches: First, I think you are better off making individual windows, plug in or symbol. I am not sure that VW can successfully make the varied sloped windows as a custom unit (Perhaps Windoor?). The cCustom unit parameters is usually…
