Freeman Company is currently seeking an experienced Scenic Designer to join their corporate creative team.  The person will be responsible for:

  • Creates and produces set and scenic designs for live events according to customer needs. Creates drawings, models and color renderings as needed to illustrate design to client before implementing final design.
  • A clear understanding of theatrical scenic techniques and construction is required as is a solid knowledge of materials and live event dynamics. Great design sense grounded in reality, creative yet budget-conscious – collaborative and flexible.
  • A wide variety of themes and styles to be explored, a large inventory of stock scenic to be utilized, custom construction capabilities – good tools for an inventive thinker. From wildly theatrical to clean and corporate, it is seldom boring.
  • Responsible and accountable for live event scenic design projects as defined by the Freeman Creative Group, including overall quality, feasibility, and timeliness of each assignment.
  • Work to ensure the -design vision' falls in line with client objectives, from budget evaluation and concept development through the presentation of design solutions to Sr management.
  • Balance multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
  • Prepare rough sketches of sets for client approval understanding floor plan layouts and size limitations. May create models to illustrate set in a 3 D fashion. Renders.
  • Select, supervise, and obtain cost estimates from outside vendors as required.
    Work with scenic construction department to create plans for execution of designs from shop drawings to pull lists to raw materials sources.

Required Experience

You must Possess a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Design or related discipline.Three (3) to Five (5) years equivalent work experience in specific design discipline associated with role.Proficient in 3D/structural design principals, graphic design layout, type, color and print production.Proficient in VectorWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk 3D Studio Max and Adobe CS.

 

Proficient in traditional stage craft principles, and general rigging and AV preferred.
