Is there a way of using the hardscape tool to draw a surface which has a rainwater run-off gradient?I tried looking at "3D reshape", but couldn't see anything obvious (I'm using VW 2008).The problem…Continue

Hi Cheri

No - I didn't receive it. You could try something like YouSendit or http://drop.io to send it to me. They are both free.
I would be delighted to help.
I am so glad your printing worked out.

Tamsin thankyou for your suggestion on the line weights.
It printed out perfectly. Did you recieve the file I sent you? It was a bit large, I can par it down a bit and resend. Would love to have a solution to the plant tags problem. It is the same in every file I create!

P.S. I'd love to help with your other plant tag issues. Do send me a small sample file with some of the roguesome plants in and I'll see if I can figure it out.

Thanks so much for your kind comments. You're very kind!

It sounds like it could be the line weights that are causing the problems. Try increasing both the hatch and the tag lines to something like 0.13 and see if that makes any difference. You can always change the color of the lines in the hatch (via the hatch editor) to tone them down a bit if they come across too full on.
Let me know how you get on.

Your book was wonderful. Very organized to the specifc elements needed for Landsacpe Design. It took me about a month to work through the book and complete all the excercises. You also left room for more advanced work as well by including elements like creating your own 3-D objects and symbols. I came in with some CAD knowledge to start but your book really increased my understanding of workflow in Vectorworks , what the best way to approach say construction detial ( I love the use of "draft planing for mesuements , contractors love the black and white simplicity) combined with the colored textured plans for cleints. Stilll working on my own personal style in though!

You are correct I have a smaller printer in my office and send my prints out to a local print shop in the 24x36 sizes. The color printer they use is a Cannon IPF 700.

My lines wieghts for the class Plants-component-tags is at 0.05 and the line weight for the hatch Brick (standard hatch) shows 0.03 in the hatch editor. I do have a gradient underneath the hatch (learned that from you!) I tried to attached the file but its to big.....

Hi Cheri

I do hope you've found the book useful.
Problems with things missing from the print are usually to do with line weight. Check to see what your line weights are within classes. What kind of printer are you using Is it in your own office or are you sending the print elsewhere hence the PDF?

I just went through page by page the book that Tamasin wrote on "Residential Garden Design" with Vectoroworks Landmark. Good book well done Tamsin. I made th switch last year from the drawing board to Vectroworks. It is much easier to make revisions, construction details and plant lists. But I am still having problems printing with exported PDF's especially in color. Most lines come through but the plant tag lines, and hatching lines look fine on the screen but don't print well ... lines are missing or partial. Any ideas what might cause this? I only see this when printing color could it be the printer?
