To all of you PC users who have upgraded to Windows 7, are any of you experiencing any problems or errors using VW with it?  More specifically, is anyone using VW 2010 and Windows 7?

I have a brand new fast computer. In addition to a few other errors for reasons which I am still pursuing, I am getting errors in the Event Viewer linked to Adobe AIR. I have reviewed VW Knowledgebase and their recommendations are already up to date on my machine. My machine is not running consistently well and it is causing me a lot of grief. I had no problems with XP.

yes, and i will try QuickTime as well...my take on this (not proven) is that Quick time is not fully compatible with 64 bit OS's but i could be wrong...so it is worth to try it...as a matter or fact I already tried it in other case and seems to speed things up comparing to before...so I hope this helps in your case.

No problems here: i7 laptop from @xi with GeForce GTX 280m windows7 and VW 10
Couple of things to be aware of:
Buying more ram will not speed up VW past a certain point. 3 gigs of ram is all that the program can address really. That's because of the limits of 32 bit processing. Having more will not do anything. Until the program is rewritten to be 64 bit that's not going to change.

Also, because it's a 32 bit program and you are running it on a 64 bit OS, the OS is going to emulate a 32 bit environment so that it can run, thus pulling resources and running slower.

Quicktime is problematic, and newer versions will crash VW. Go with whatever Nemetschek ships the version with and don't update it.

I've begun to seriously ponder video cards as being a troublemaker, something I've not done before in the past. Again, I'd say that whatever NM says works then go with it.
Thanks Grant

I still need to try Juan's idea of installing VW in the 64 bit Program Files folder and see it that helps.

Otherwise what does everybody think of going back to Windows XP until NM/VW or Windows 7 works out their bugs?

I find that the 2D works as fast as I would like, but using VW for 3D as it is intended (more BIM-like), then it takes far too long for the viewports to update themselves when creating CD's from the model. I find that annoying and it got to the point where "time is money" and I had to finish a project in the old fashioned 2D method simply to get it done and out.
A customer of mine in Greece also had trouble with Windows 7. Extremely slow redraws - it seems the graphics card he was using was not supported. When he downgraded the system to XP everything was fine.
I have an NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 with the latest driver that I downloaded. Are there any VW or NM experts that can comment on whether my graphics card is supported?

I also have occasional problems outside of VW that the computer manufacturer's tech support tried to point to VW as the culprit. I am not sure I'm ready to go that far.
