I work at a small company in Ottawa, ON. My boss would like me to learn Vectorworks 3D functions and renderworks to produce presentation graphics. We have looked at doing online customized courses, but of course every time there is a scramble in the workflow, everything gets put off.

A classroom course is more rigidly scheduled, so not as easily put off, therefore far more likely to happen. I would also prefer to learn in a classroom situation because that is when I learn best.

However, it seems no one is offering courses in Ottawa or even Toronto in these subjects in the foreseeable future. What does one do?

Or are there any courses in the Ottawa/Toronto area coming up that I am unaware of?

Tess, Normally I would suggest  local user group, but Toronto doesn't seem to have one, so maybe start one! just imformal, till you see what other usere there are. Call Nemetschek to see how to get listed or how to handle it.

But, that aside, I have found Jonathan Pickup's training manuals and a subscription to his online trianing sessions (monthy interactive online discussions) invaluable. Take a look at archoncad.com, even call  or Skype him directly.

Also, theTechboard and knowledge base at Nemetschek are very helpful, and sometimes the best way is just to start in and learn on a simpler project. Reach out when you have a question or get to an impasse. We have all been there.
