Ok, so I'm drawing a wall and want to add a texture to said wall. I have tried the texture editing in the "Obj. info" window, the carpet worked great but the walls all i can see of the texture is the top and end of the wall not the wall itself. I know that the texture is there but not showing on the over all wall. What am I missing?
attached is the file
Thanks ya'll

1. Select the wall
2. Go to the Render tab in OI
3. In Part choose 'Left (Class Texture)'
4. Then choose 'Revert To Overall'
5. Then go back and choose 'Right (Class Texture) and then 'Revert To Overall' again.
It's convoluted and don't ask me why. It was much simpler in older versions Perhaps there is a neater solution?

I have attached your amended file as proof of concept!!

Thanks Nick,
And yer right it was easier in earlier versions... Thanks again for the help.
Hey Nick
Ok so I have another question for you. When placing windows using the window tool, it would seem that the window binds with the wall. When I try to move the window it will either move the wall with it or the wall disappears... Using the same file from the last question, again what am I missing here.
Up against the wall in Jersey...
Thanks again
If you want to move the window out of the wall, you have to push the Wall Insertion Mode button on the window's upper left corner (it looks like a window popping out of a wall).

Nick can clarify on this if he's still around.
Thanks Guys,
Much appreciated!!!
Mark

I think Bob has answered the question. Go to the 'Wall Insertion Mode' (4th from the left in VW2010) and select. This will allow you to move/remove the door/window

Nick
This one had me stumped -- I usually do the wall textures from Wall Styles in Vw Architect -- so that "Revert to Overall" button never entered my work flow. So I guess you learn something every day!
This is sort of a related question to textures on walls. I use a Viewport set to Hidden Line for elevations. I would like it to apply certain hatches or patterns to walls, roofs, etc. Can this be done?
Sky

How are you generating the elevations? Is it from a 3D model or are they straightforward 2D drawings?

Nick
They are a viewport of a 3d model set to hidden line.
Hatches and patterns only work on 2D objects. A possible work around would be to convert the viewport to lines (Modify>Convert>Convert To Lines) and then compose selected lines to create polygons which you can then apply hatches to (you may have to rescale them). This will only work on elevations as the hatches will not adjust for isometric and perspective views

Nick
But doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a BIM solution?

What I'm looking for is a way to update the model once and get plans, elevations and sections automatically updated.
