I am new to VW 2009 Architect, working on my first project. Command "Fit Walls to Roof" stopped working and have spent two days now trying to figure the problem. Please help.
Can you describe the problem in a little more detail? When you say that the command has stopped working, what exactly happens? You select the walls, run the command, specify which layer you want the walls geometry to fit to and then what? Do you receive an error message?
Let me know and I'll be glad to help.
Thank you, Tamsin,
Yes, I select a wall, specify a layer, click OK and all happens is a eye blink shake of screen.
I have checked layer and class settings; they seem to be correct. Also, it is a file specific problem. In a mean time I have started another file, which is working correctly, all my previous files are okay also. I am not working on this file any more but want to learn what happened to avoid the problem in the future.

Do you have the upper layer, that you are trying to fit to, turned on to visible? If you are trying to fit the upper floor walls to the upper roof layer, I find that the upper roof layer must be set to visible.
Yes, the roof layer is visible. Actually I have two roof layers, one for demolition and one for proposed roof. It is a residential second floor addition and walls on demo class should fit to demo roof layer and the other ones to a proposed roof layer. The roof layers overlap each other in some areas. I specify to which roof layer each wall shall fit. I just tried to make invisible the roof layer not used but it did not help. Or maybe it is too complicated for a beginner.
I've experienced this. There a couple of things you should try. Make sure the height of the roof is above the top of the walls in 3D space before you do "Fit to Roof" command . Open the Organisation Dialog and check that the roof layer has a "Z" above the wall layer "Z". Or if you want to keep the roof and wall layer with the same "Z" value then return to your roof layer, select the roof plane and hit "ctrl Alt M" (Move 3d) or whatever the equivalent command in Apple is and set the "Z" value to something above the height of the walls. Actually you only need a part of the roof above the highest part of the wall for the command to work.
The command tries to extend the walls up. if there is nothing up there, it just does nothing.
