I am having trouble viewing my textures in OpenGL or any other Render. The walls are always a light to dark grey (please see attached screen shot). I am able to see the texture when I adjust the Scale slider but only then. I have gone through the class layers, wall styles and Obj Info changing Part and Textures and still get the same results. I have followed Mark Miller's discussion on "Textures applied to walls" gone through the Vectorworks help and two manuals but still get the same results. I have adjusted the lighting and sent the sun angle as well? Is there a box somewhere that I haven't ticked or need to un tick?

Hi Derek

Are your textures applied to the sides of the walls (Left, Right) or Overall? With Walls, Overall applies to the top only. Select the walls, click the Render tab and then just the different parts from the drop-down and make sure the texture is applied.

As for grey walls, it is a matter of adding more light - or perhaps using radiosity to make the light bounce around the surfaces. But that would be for final render rather than working stage.

Let me know if you still have problems.
Hi Tamsin, Thank you once again for helping me out. I had changed the Render- Part to both Left and Right and just tried again but still without luck. I also just went in changed the light which just increase, decreased the grey colour and I can still see the texture when I change the scale but only when I am sliding the scale slider? I will once again go back to looking over my wall styles and class. It's a good thing I don't have any hair as I wouldn't now. Cheers

Can you attach the original file?

Nick
Hi Nick,

I have attached the file and you will notice that it is a backup file. I'm putting it down that the original file has been corrupted and so has this backup. I am no longer able to obtain Hidden line view and when (not all the time) I change between views and render modes the file behaves not the way it should or has been doing. I'm in the process of starting the drawing again in a new file and noting what I do. Cheers

I think it's a file problem. I have copied and pasted a couple of layers into a new file and everything seems OK. This is often a good work around if the thing refuses to co-operate. Do not simply make a copy of the original file, but copy the objects and PASTE them into a new file. I hope that makes sense!

I have attached the new version

Thank you Nick! If I could buy you a beer (or wine) I would. I had thought of copying and pasting to a new file but I thought I would have ended up with the same result. Do you have any thoughts on how the file became faulty? As I'll make sure I don't do it again. Once again thank you for your help.

Cheers

Derek
