I seem to have a lot of trouble with the find/replace text command in 2012 - it is something I use a lot and very frustrating!

For instance right now I have a string of text repeated on 19 pages:

Joinery Scale: 1:20 Date: 29/1/12 Rev: 1 Drawn: WJD

If I ask it to replace 'Joinery' or 'Scale' there is no problem, but it will not replace '1:20'

It's illogical and maddening...

Hi Bill,

Are you working on a Mac or PC? The reason I ask is because if you are working on a Mac there could be an issue with the colon in the text. When the Mac OS is try to locate a file it uses a : as its path separators.

i.e. (HD:Applications:Vectorworks 2012:Vectorworks 2012.app).

Where as on a PC the Windows OS uses a \ as its path separators.

i.e. (MyComputer\C:\Program Files\Vectorworks2012\Vectorworks2012.exe)

Because there is a : in the text you are trying to replace this may be causing the issue with the Find/Replace command if you are working on a Mac. Try replacing the : with a different separator and see if that works. I hope this helps.

Very interesting, thanks you - I am using a Mac, and further experimenting shows that this is a sort of 'non-glitch'

Back when I was using 12.5 and earlier, I always copy-pasted the text I wanted to replace, and now it seems that is does not work that way any more.  Just typing it in works fine, even including colons or slashes.  An odd little quirk that's all...
