The Community for Architects, Landscape & Lighting Designers

Our firm, ROJO Architecture (www.getROJO.com) is in the process of accepting associates for our firm. The goal of this association is multi-fold. 1. Combine resumes 2. Maximize our infra-structure, developed over the last 11 years. 3. Market as a multi-city organization, virtual company. 4. Prefer Mac users, vectorworks is a must - ROJO is a VWA power-user and BETA tester. 5. Looking for anyone in the AEC industry - architects, interiors, etc. 6. Associate remains in primary control and ownership of his group.

If interested in developing a company as an "affiliate" (for lack of a better term), contact me either in this forum or by email (rob@rojoarchitecture.com). Currently, we have associations in Memphis and San Francisco. We have a preliminary business plan we can send out upon signature on a Confidential Agreement. Also, see firm brochure attached for sample of both finished work and ROJO VWA renderings.

Basically, if you are on your own or looking for a way to go on your own but need drafting, portfolio, office management backup, let me know.

Hi Rob,

After stumbling upon this site, I signed up & your post caught my eye!
I am based in South Africa & have been using VW since 2003. VW here, though growing, is not as widely used.
After having started my own practice here in Hilton, KZ-N at the beginning of 2004, I have now started contemplating ways of expanding my horizons.

Although the lifestyle here is ideal, the scope of work can be limited, especially with regard to available budgets and general acceptance of more contemporary design solutions.

Another factor, more current, is that all my current major projects are “on hold”
eg:
Shopping Mall Upgrade/Revamp/Extend.
~ Initial feasibilities & conceptual design stage complete.

35 Unit Residential Development.
~ sketch design stage complete.

Office Park/Light Industrial Estate Development.
~ Site development planning & concept/sketch design stage complete.

I have come to realize that the business of architecture needs to have a fluid approach.
The idea of starting & growing a practice all on one’s own will result in very limited results!
Therefore, I am now looking at options of linking up with a larger firms.
I must say, I did not initially consider looking at this from a global perspective!

Although I enjoy all the various aspects of Architecture, my strengths are:
Conceptual/Sketch Design Development & Technical Detailing.

I've had a look at your e-brochure & website - very impressive!!
I particularly like the ISPC building & have suddenly found the urge to rush out & buy a pair of Converse All-Stars!!
I do have a website (which is in dire need of an upgrade/revamp) but you'll get an idea of some of my work.
follow these links:

If you're interested, I can also e-mail you a PDF document showing some other projects.....

Regards,
Ivan.
hang on, I've just seen that I can upload my portfolio right here...

Ivan,
We would love to speak with you further on this concept. When do you have time to discuss this over the phone. We are on eastern time, USA.
Thanks
Rob
Hi Rob,
Apologies for the extended silence.
I am just getting back into the swing after a pretty decent break!
Currently I am seriously looking at linking up with a local multi-disciplinary firm.
As soon as this is in place I will be in a better position to call you.

Ivan.
Sounds great, I'll wait to hear from you.
Rob
Rob, looks like we've worked for some of the same clients... I would be interested to hear more about 'affiliating'.
Sean, thanks for contacting us. Currently, we have affiliates in San Francisco and Memphis. The idea seems to have a lot of merit but the economy strains all locations. Essentially, we are trying to create a stronger competitive company while being a win/win for all involved.

What kind of questions do you have?

Rob
Sean,
Somehow, we lost touch! Are you available to discuss any time soon?

Rob

Rob,

I would be interested in discussing this with you. I have been in practice on my own since 1985 and have been using Vectorworks on a Mac since it was Minicad back in 1991. I am in Raleigh, NC.

Richard,

I like your web page and work.  I noticed you also have religious experience, as do we.  Our business idea has grown a bit, I have a business plan that I put together last year.  I would be happy to send it to you and then maybe talk a bit further after that.

Send an email to me at rob@rojoarchitecture.com

You can see some of our work at www.getrojo.com

I come to Raleigh Durham once or twice a year.  We have a friend that is a member of Old Chatum Golf Club.  We play there and then drive to Pinehurst where another friend has a house on No. 7.

Anyway, send me a note so that I have your email and we will pick it up from there.

Thanks

Rob
