Event Description

Microtecture of North Carolina, PLLC, an architecture firm in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, is offering a series of Vectorworks classes to help firms looking into Building Information Modeling get their staff up to speed. All four sessions start at 8:00 am and run to 12:00 noon on the day they are held. Class check in begins at 7:30. All sessions are held at the Microtecture offices, in Matthews NC. Attendees should bring their own laptops and a licensed or trial copy of Vectorworks 2010. Early registration is encouraged as classes will be limited to 10 Attendees. Sessions 1-4 can be bundled for $375. Sessions 2-4 can be bundled for $300. Bundles must be registered and paid for together. Session 1: Introduction to Vectorworks 2010. This course covers creating, editing and printing basic 2 d plans and elevations in Vectorworks fundamentals. Including parametric objects, basic drawing set up and printing. Suitable for those who are new to Vectorworks. March 8, 2010. $75

Session 2: Intermediate Vectorworks 2010. This course covers the use of basic 3D technology, advanced drawing set up and Using 3D information to help generate 2D drawings , the use of viewports for preference and presentation and advanced printing and annotation. Suitable for those familiar with basic 2D drafting who want to move into 3D modeling. March 9, 2010. $100.

Session 3: Vectorworks Architect 2010 for AEC. This course covers the use of AEC tools and the creation of more detailed 3D models. This course walks through the creation of a a project with AEC tools from start to finish and includes drawing referencing. Suitable for those familiar with 3D drafting who want to move into 3D modeling for production drawing. March 22, 2010, $125

Session 4: Vectorworks Architect 2010 with Renderworks for BIM. This first half of this course covers the use of the AEC modules to handle scheduling and analysis. the second half of the course covers an exploration into rendering techniques and capabilities. March 23, 2010, $150

Classes will be taught by Louis B. Smith, AIA, a long time Vectorworks user and author of Vectorworks By Project (Version 12). Louis served five years on the AIA’s Small Project Practitioners Knowledge Community Advisory Group. He has presented to over 300 architects in Design Workshops at the AIA National Convention as well as state and regional conventions.
