This is part two of the webinar series "openBIM - Real Interoperability, Practical Collaboration".
BIM is the whole of the technology and processes that comprise the formulation, design, analysis, encoding, decoding, fabrication, simulation, management of a project. Many different kinds of technology exist today that address different viewpoints, or workflows, to move the process forward. But in order to move forward, we need a common platform for true interoperability, the ability to exchange data and make use of the information, from any source, for any workflow.
Today, that BIM interoperability is possible with openBIM, the use of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for the building geometry and data. The use of openBIM workflows and IFC technology can be demonstrated on a design using the out-of-the-box functionality of applications available today for architectural, structural, and HVAC design and modeling.
